U Can't Put the Champagne Back in the Bottle...

It's been a minute. I remember when I first got hip to this whole blog scene I'd check Exo's blog at http://warscribe.blogspot.com religiously, praying for updates. Now I feel him on why they were sometimes few and far between.

It is my hope that there's someone, somewhere who reads this blog who has a normal life, a normal job, a nuclear family, a dog, a cat...who checks this out to peer into a life that is completely not that. Someone who doesn't have a closet full of sneakers, with more at a friend's house and still more in their ex's basement. Someone who doesn't live and breathe, with all their heart, the music business and the business of music. As I grow, and grow older, I understand - plus overstand - why my Father didn't want me in this business. And as I grow wiser, I know he'll never understand who I am, what I do, why I do it, or the music I do it all for.

At the end of the day, it's a leap of faith. I'm taking the greatest one of my life right now, as a matter of fact. Portentiously, my Moms told me a while back, when things weren't working, that I should go back to being a secretary. And in more ways than one, that's what I've gone back to. But I can feel it, smell it, and taste it. It's fundamental enough that I know what's going on with our business, and servile/submissive enough that it curbs my appetite to show those traits in my personal life.

Who am I kidding...what personal life would that be? The one where I get "home" from work, read a 400 page book, go to sleep, wake up at 4:45 am, write an overview of the business for work...yeah.

I had toyed with the idea, over the last 24 hours, of taking Pyramids 2 Projects on hiatus for a while. I had meant to post something to that effect this morning when I logged in. But I can't do it. I've got to talk about some shit. I've got to make this albeit public diary entry. I have family, friends, and fans who depend on this shit. And ultimately, I've gotta cater to the haters, the ones who begrudgingly come back here to see what shit I'm talking, not knowing consciously they've succumbed once again to the immaculate wordplay at the hands of one of the finest culture consultants Hip Hop has ever known.

The Roots are signed to Def Jam (Left) and Jay-Z signed them, and Saigon is on the album. I love Young Jeezy. Everybody's sippin on Promethazine. Three Six Mafia featuring Project Pat "I'll Smack the Black Off Your Ass" is brilliant, fucken genius, I love this shit. The Fugees are back. Shit, Xzibit may be back. And DJ Muggs and GZA have put Hip Hop in a time-machine back to the glory days of Wu-Tang Clan with this Grandmasters album. Bun B is a legend in his own time. Rappers and MCs are starting to have a presence again, they're coming back with EGO and PERSONALITY. This is the key to some shit, sissies.

More witty repartee later, I gotta go get buff or die tryin'.

Are these comments 4real? Spam doesn't quit ey?

An'way, take your hiatus if need be lady. Nobody really comes to see if you've made updates, lol.

I know that work is progressing well 4 ya.

I had an interesting revelation when revisiting Alabama this weekend. We are all moving at our own speeds in this life and while our environment dictates the need to be a certain way, ultimately we choose the speed we move in.

Anyway, any business is going to have a speed that it requires of its passengers, however the passengers do have an impact on the speed of the bus. Do we continue to let the big mufucca run out of control and hope that we can get on/off safely?

As I speak to myself, can we remember that we have no control over life's events? We can only pray for and practice control over our actions. Ultimately, what we do (proactively or reactively) is the important factor that defines us and our status in life.

I am glad to see that you decided against a hiatus, albeit for selfish reasons.(Hey, I love your blog, its dope) As for the haters, a subject that I have got to know quite well since starting my blog, just shake those bastards off. They hate that you have more talent in your pinky then they have throughout their entire family tree. I know I'm kissing your ass, but you deserve it.
